The small resort town of Litochoro, picturesquely situated at the foot of the Mount Olympus massif, is an excellent base for lovers of mountain hiking and climbing, as well as more extreme water sports – rafting or kayaking. The town is located at an altitude of approximately 300 m above sea level. and is a good starting point for people who want to climb to the top of Olympus. It is surrounded by the Olympus National Park, and in addition to the peak, the picturesque Enipeas Gorge is also a popular destination.
The center of Litochoro is built with stone, low houses covered with tiles, typical of the areas of Greek Macedonia. There are many restaurants and taverns, as well as guesthouses and apartments for rent.
Below Litochoro, on the Olympic Riviera, there are several popular holiday resorts, including Paralia. Thanks to their proximity, you can combine relaxation in the mountains with attractions provided by seaside resorts. In addition to sunbathing, windsurfing and paddleboarding are popular here.
Litochoro is famous for the Baths of Aphrodite and the road leading to the Enipeas Gorge.
